Brüel & Kjær Vibro has reported a modernisation of the condition monitoring infrastructure at Skærbæk Power Station in Denmark. The plant replaced a legacy system with a SETPOINT® solution based on the AVEVA™ PI System™.
The main idea behind this type of modernisation is to make vibration and operating data available in a unified environment that supports monitoring of critical machines and informed maintenance decisions. SETPOINT® can stream vibration data to an AVEVA™ PI Server, allowing historical and real-time data to be viewed together. This is particularly important for power plants and industrial facilities where the reliability of turbines, generators, pumps, compressors and other rotating machines has a direct impact on production continuity. This example illustrates the direction of modern condition monitoring: not only measuring vibration, but integrating machine data into a wider asset management, condition analysis and maintenance planning environment.
For power plants, district heating companies, industrial facilities and operators of critical equipment, this is a useful reason to review existing monitoring systems. If a plant relies on ageing monitoring hardware or if machine data is not integrated with process information, modernisation can improve visibility, analysis and maintenance efficiency.
SPECTRI can support customers in assessing their monitoring needs, selecting a suitable system architecture and discussing solutions for permanent or temporary machine condition monitoring.
