SPECTRI’s partners from Brüel & Kjær Vibro have presented an example of the successful application of the VC-8000 system with SETPOINT CMS for monitoring and protection of large steam turbogenerators at a power generation facility. The solution demonstrates the important role of continuous vibration monitoring for critical rotating machinery, where reliability, early detection of deviations, and equipment protection are essential for safe and uninterrupted operation. According to information published by B&K Vibro, the system was used for monitoring steam turbogenerator units at a power plant in China, with the application associated with the successful commercial operation of the facility. This is another practical example of the use of VC-8000/SETPOINT CMS solutions in the energy sector and for large critical machines.
VC-8000 is a machinery protection and continuous monitoring system designed for critical equipment such as steam and gas turbines, hydro turbines, compressors, and other important rotating machinery. The solution enables vibration condition monitoring, alarm notification when predefined thresholds are reached, and the provision of data for diagnostics and analysis.
In combination with SETPOINT CMS, the system provides not only machinery protection, but also the possibility for more in-depth analysis of machine condition. This is particularly important for large energy and industrial facilities, where unplanned downtime of a turbine, compressor, pump, or fan may lead to serious production, financial, and operational consequences.
